Fitness.

For the next month or so you will be flooded with images and messaging that will tell you that your body is not the right size, that you are not the best version of yourself, that you can do better, be better, look better. I am here to tell you that you are lovely and perfect and beautiful just the way you are. And that IF you want to set some new wellness or fitness goals, give yourself permission to do so for you, and only you. There are a million reasons to exercise and eat well that have nothing to do with your appearance, but here are a few of my faves... ...because thick or thin, there is nothing more empowering than being strong AF, ...because your children are watching you invest in your health, ...because endorphins are real, natural and side-effect-free mood elevators and stress reducers, ...because cardiovascular endurance and flexibility make for a more active and adventurous sex life, ...because it gives you a reason to strip down or bundle up and be outside with nature, ...because you can enrich your mind and boost your mood by listening to music or books or podcasts while working out, ...because you can actively prevent some of the deadliest diseases known to humankind, ...because you will sleep better, ...because working out with friends is a fun way to multitask, ...because your puppy loves working out with you, ...because there are trails to hike and roads to bike and oceans to swim in and rocks to climb and mountains to ski and dances to dance and waves to surf and boards to skate, and tennis matches to be played, and 5Ks to run for charity, and piggybacks to ride and sunsets to chase and waterfalls to find and rivers to kayak and a whole beautiful world to explore, ...because I, and so many others, like you and want you to be around for a long, long time!
